In an effort to help children overcome obesity and the growing health risks that come with it, a Chennai-based company launched a pediatric diet mobile game app to help children make healthy food choices. The app was designed by FriendsLearn and its founder Bhargav Shri Prakash says he was inspired to create something like this after he became a parent and saw how his children’s eating habits were influenced by ads and weren’t particularly body-friendly. As such, he decided to do something about it and started developing the app around 11 years ago. Bhargav named him Fooya !.
Speaking to ANI news agency, Bhargav said: “We have been working on it for 11 years. We decided to involve the kids in a fun way in this important topic. “

The company has an R&D office in San Francisco and the results of a trial on 104 children showed how the app was successful in introducing children to healthy food and lifestyle choices among them ages 10 to 11 years old.
Bhargav explains how the app also taught children to avoid processed foods using a neuroscientific approach to the topic. It also emphasizes the need to introduce a fun way of explaining the topics to make sure the kids don’t get bored about it.
Bhargav reportedly told the news agency that he had worked with John Hopkins University and that their study findings were a huge success. Their study, which also appeared in the journal JMIR mHealth and uHealth, explains how just 20 minutes of the app can have
a positive effect on children.
By keeping the app very accessible, the manufacturers have used an avatar to combat unhealthy food represented by robots. It helps kids maintain a good body shop and earn coins to unlock further milestones. The idea that children are given is that if you eat healthy foods, they can move around a lot and are sluggish and tired if they eat more calories or fatty foods.
